| Majors at the Babel University Professional School
of Translation are established after analyzing the needs of the
market. The wishes of new students are first taken into consideration,
and they can acquire a technical specialty that is tailored to their
wishes based on an analysis of the market and the long educational
experience of the Babel Group.
Currently there are four majors, but we are planning to establish
new ones in response to requests from the business and the society.
The most important decision is which major to choose so that each
and every student will become a professional translator who is able
to function effectively. In this aspect, it is crucial for new students
to decide on a major in the earliest stage.

Major1:
Major in Literary Arts and Film Translation
The objective of this major is to develop translation specialists
for the publishing and film industries.
A preponderant share of published materials and film products are
taken up by works of translation, and this trend is likely to become
stronger. Along with specialized knowledge, the course aims for
the acquisition of technical knowledge that responds immediately
to a market that requires writings that are clear and easy to read.

Major 4:
Major in International Paralegal
This major received accreditation in May 2003. This course is designed
to develop International Paralegals who make full use of both English
and Japanese languages by studying the laws of United States and
Japan. It is the first type of occupation in the legal society to
transcend borders. It has also drawn attention as a prep school
for American law schools. Prior to the lifting of the ban of trade
liberalization, many multinational law offices and companies are
eagerly awaiting the arrival of more International Paralegals.
